Learning, networking, having fun together …
… that was the motto of our beer evening yesterday with the VR Familie. Together we digitised everyday objects using Blender and brought our own digital twins into the metaverse. Step by step we worked through the individual stages in Blender to create a base shape and then apply a texture to it. In no time at all everyone had built a GLB object, and we then imported them into RAUM virtual reality collaboration . In the VR Familie’s virtual pub we could pick them up live and virtually and take a look at the results. That showed the participants that creating your own objects for the metaverse – and then actually using them in VR – is not that hard at all. In doing so we also connected different layers: we saw each other for real on Zoom and met each other as avatars in the virtual world moments later.
All in all it was a very sociable and entertaining evening with truly lovely people who share a common interest: new digital media.
We are already looking forward to the next one!
Enabling: it matters to me that as many people as possible acquire the know-how to help shape the metaverse themselves. Along the way they come to understand how new digital formats emerge and how to handle them properly. Designing your own virtual environment means creating a safe place for yourself in new digital worlds. Teaching media literacy in dealing with Web3 technologies is my primary goal. I make that knowledge available to my community members free of charge.
VR Familie is a real community in the metaverse. With more than 8,500 members we are one of the largest German-speaking groups in the metaverse.
