Meta VR Glasses: A 100-Gram Headset for the Next Generation of Work in VR

At Meta Connect on September 23, Meta unveiled what may be the most important VR device of the coming year: the Meta VR Glasses. Instead of a headset strapped to your face, Meta puts a full VR experience into a frame that weighs around 100 grams. For anyone who spends real working hours in VR, this is a big step.

Meta VR Glasses: VR in the shape of glasses

The trick is a split design. The glasses themselves carry displays, cameras and sensors, while the computing happens in a 300-gram puck connected by a hybrid fiber-optic cable. The glasses run the same operating system as Meta Quest 3 and support the same content, rendered at higher resolution with eye-tracked foveated rendering.

  • Glasses weigh around 100 g, compute puck around 300 g
  • Dual 120 Hz micro-OLED displays, 2412 × 2288 per eye, with HDR
  • Field of view of 70° horizontal and 66° vertical
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite, 12 GB RAM, 128 GB storage plus microSD
  • Hand, eye and face tracking (eye tracking via four cameras)
  • Controllers optional; existing Quest 3 and 3S controllers are supported
  • USB-C DisplayPort input on the puck to use external devices as virtual screens
  • US price: $1,299.99, shipping in early 2027; no euro price has been announced yet

Our take: this is the real deal

For RAUM, the Meta VR Glasses are first and foremost our customers’ headset: the device that the teams working in RAUM will put on next. Partners and customers of ours who have already seen it all say the same thing: this is the real deal. It is what the Apple Vision Pro should have been: light enough to wear for hours, powerful enough for real work, and built on the same platform and content library as Meta Quest 3.

What this means for RAUM

Lighter devices mean longer, more comfortable sessions, and that is exactly what meetings, training sessions and workshops need. RAUM will be available on the Meta VR Glasses from day one of their market launch. Because the glasses run the same operating system as Meta Quest 3, your teams can move to the new hardware without changing how they work in RAUM.

Today, RAUM runs on Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, PICO and in the browser. Book a free demo or download RAUM and get your team ready for the next generation.
