Education in virtual worlds

In various circles – including the Kölner Kreis and the Verband Öffentlicher Versicherer – I am currently gathering experience with immersive learning. We are supported in this by, among others, the company RAUM virtual reality collaboration with Michael Gairing. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) have not become trending topics only since the release of Apple’s Vision Pro. And not only in the world of technology, but also in the field of adult education. For sales staff these technologies offer a wide range of benefits, too:

  1. Realistic simulations: VR allows sales staff to simulate true-to-life scenarios. They can practise customer conversations, product presentations or negotiations in a virtual environment.
  2. Product and technical training: with VR, sales staff can explore products and services interactively. They can look around virtual rooms, carry out site inspections and risk assessments, and visualise product features. Claims can be simulated with and without risk-reducing installations such as sprinkler systems, for example. That builds understanding and makes technical knowledge easier to convey.
  3. Efficient training: training can be delivered cost-effectively and efficiently in virtual environments. Sales staff do not have to be physically in one place to be trained. That saves time and resources.
  4. Understanding complex concepts: financial services are often complex. VR can visualise abstract concepts such as investment strategies, risk management or tax planning. That makes them easier to grasp and easier to explain to customers.
  5. Career preparation and continuing education: VR prepares sales staff for the future. They learn to work with new technologies and can keep developing their skills.

I am curious to see what the future brings. And you?
