Bitkom – Digitaltag 2025
What is actually possible in virtual worlds today? Bitkom answered that question by simply doing it: the association held its Digitaltag 2025 programme in RAUM.
Five years earlier, the first Digitaltag session in VR had a handful of speakers in headsets while everyone else watched on a monitor. This time more than 30 people were inside the virtual world at once – listening to the talks, asking questions, discussing, networking and sharing a virtual drink afterwards.
Companies including Siemens, Schaeffler and Arvato used the RAUM platform to show how they already put virtual worlds to work today – across consumer, corporate, training and industrial scenarios. Schaeffler’s contribution made the business case plain: VR training has been an established use case there for years, and it saves serious money.
One of the impulses put numbers on the effect. Compared with traditional virtual tools, collaboration in XR delivered +58% relationship closeness, +16% internal communication and +16% intensity of participation, alongside measurably more interaction.
The organiser’s own conclusion after the day: running an event in VR now takes far less effort than it used to, a surprising number of people already own the equipment – and a VR event is not comparable to a Teams or Zoom call. It behaves like a physical event: you walk around, you bump into people, you talk.
