Organised by Thomas Riedel, the virtual location was RAUM virtual reality collaboration und Sponsor KölnBusiness – the Economic Development Agency of Cologne.
After an onboarding that took roughly as long as it does at real conferences, and after getting to grips with what the controllers can do, there was an entertaining talk on the topic.
We then worked in groups to assemble various virtual objects into a piece of art. That way you got to know each other and learned to handle the technology at the same time.
Then networking, and exploring other objects in the room such as a record player, artworks, photos from previous events… or simply the view out over the virtual sea.
That really was a good first VR event, and certainly not my last. Maybe I will soon create my own room and welcome you all! And then we can talk about “#metaverse – Who cares? So what? What do we do next?”
